Retro TV Alarm Clock

By Andrew Liszewski

If you miss your old CRT TV this retro-looking alarm clock might help fill the massive void left in your entertainment center, and possibly your heart. It’s designed to look like an old-school ‘portable’ CRT set with its overly rounded display and carrying handle, but the only show you’ll be watching is the 12/24 hour clock that of course includes an alarm function. As you can see it even comes with a mock remote that is used to turn off theSource: OhGizmo! RSS Feed

Watermelon juice - the next great automotive fuel?

Corn as a source for ethanol has its problems. While there are a number of backers, there are real issues that need to be addressed, including (but not necessarily limited to, of course) the huge amount of corn required to brew large batches of the alcohol fuel and the large quantities of water needed in the process. A new alternative is just now popping up that may offer at least a partial solution: watermelon juice.

TOOB Immersive Omni-Directional Personal Dome Screens

By Andrew Liszewski

Great news! You no longer have to go to an expo/world’s fair/amusement park/science center to experience one of those omni dome theaters. The TOOB provides the same basic experience, though on a considerably smaller scale. Created by Alexander McDonnell, the TOOB consists of a half-dome movie screen that’s large enough for a couple of people to sit in front of, as well as a specially shaped mirror that reflects the image from a projector onto the Source: OhGizmo! Audi makes subtle changes to its four-ringed emblem

The four-ringed logo has been in use since the Auto Union days back in the 1930s, so we wouldn't expect Audi to go changing it too drastically, but it has given the logo a fresh take to mark the occasion of the company's centenary.
Following the lead taken by other automakers, the subtly revised Audi logo is more chrome-tastic and three-dimensional than the one it replaces. The Audi name has also changed to a more conventional font instead of theSource: Autoblog RSS Feed

Cash for Clunkers update: 25-year limit keeps clunkers on the road, Ford boosts Focus production

Filed under: MPG, Legislation and Policy, Green Daily

We heard a while back that charities that rely on donated cars to fund their projects were some of the groups that helped implement the 18 mpg upper limit for passenger vehicles that qualify for C.A.R.S. (Cash for Clunkers). Turns out that the 25-year-old limit was also influenced by self-interested groups. Antique auto parts suppliers and car collectors - through their lobbyists - convinced Congress that exempting vehicles Source: AutoblogGreen RSS Feed
